Efficient Data Management in Neuroscience

Munich, June 16 - 17, 2015

Advances in technology and methodology in neuroscience lead to ever-growing amounts of increasingly complex data combining different modalities or levels of study. Annotation of these data with all the meta-information necessary for meaningful analysis is crucial for reproducibility, collaboration, and re-use of the data. However, with increasing complexity of experiments and analyses, recording and managing metadata together with data has become a challenging task.

To address these challenges, this workshop will focus on recent approaches for data annotation and data management that assist in dealing with the complexity of the data. The workshop is intended for scientists working with experimental or simulated data and interested in novel solutions for data management. Concepts, methods, and tools for metadata collection and data organization will be introduced and illustrated by concrete use cases and hands-on examples. Participants can present problems and challenges from their own work, which will be discussed and addressed at a practical level. In addition, workshop participants are welcome to present own data management solutions developed in their labs.
